It was around October 2015 that we made the decision to sail to the South Pacific Islands, starting with French Polynesia. The ensuing months, while still in Mexico, developed into a frantic preparation for the long oceanic passage to get there. When we finally departed, we journaled on a daily basis. This following session of posts covers all this period – from the moment we made the decision, through the preparations, all the way to our arrival to Taiohae in French Polynesia.

We arrived to French Polynesia in the middle of April 2017. We cruised the Marquesas for about a month, followed by the Tuamotus for nearly three months, and finally the Societies for the reminder of that year.
