A Brief Update

It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

At least that’s how it feels to me. I haven’t posted neither here or on FB or Instagram in weeks.

And ironically we’ve had pretty decent internet all this time. No excuses.

It’s been a busy time though. At least mentally busy for me.

First off, I wasn’t able to fix Pesto in Tonga and we had to sail the 550 miles to Fiji without using the engine.

Then, in Fiji – where we are now – we hauled Pesto out of the water to have her fixed properly.

With the boat out of the water, a number of other opportunistic jobs showed up, and those kept us quite busy as well.

Paulo and Raquel refreshing the depth markers on our anchor chain while Pesto was on the hard in Fiji

The haul out facility was strategically chosen so that we could meet again with our dear friends of sv Enough, and we took every opportunity to spend time with them and update our mutual stories from the last year away from one another.

And then we received my broter and his family as guests and are now cruising with them.

As busy as we’ve been, I could still have carved out time to post brief stories, like I did just now, as breakfast was being arranged. But I just didn’t feel like so.

Have I lost my story-writting MoJo?

I hope not. But for the time being I will leave it here.

Have a good week, everyone !

  1. Awe I have missed you yes.
Always loved your posts, if you get no feed back…. whats the point of posting….
I can understand that, so, post when you inspired, always the best time. ?

  2. There are a bunch of boats coming your way. Can you email us the haul-out info just in case we need it. Sure miss you guys bunches! Hugs to all.
    Coastal Drifter in Makemo!

  3. Hi Roberto !
By “guests” I intended to say that my brother came to visit us with his family, for two weeks. We all had a good time. Now it’s Adriana’s sister-in-law turn. It’s school winter vacations time down in Brazil this time of the year.

  4. Hi Ed, thank you for being always out there, watching 🙂
The last month or so has been quite busy in between fixing Pesto, cruising Fiji, family visits, and an annoying cold that has been refusing to heal properly for almost three weeks now.
With all that, the story-writting mojo has been somewhat compromised.
I do hope it is still in there, somewhere …

  5. Hi Phil, Debra – it’s kind of a bag of mixed feelings. Very, indeed very happy that you guys jumped the puddle and are enjoying what seems to me like a well-chosen crusing plan (many cool things to the West here, but the beauty of FP, particularly the Tuamotus, is hard to beat). But on the other hand, kind of sad that Coastal Drifter is not part of the pack that is heading this way this year. Here’s hoping our paths cross maybe next season … ?!? Cheers
(PS – I will write a bit more about the haul out soon)
