Eyes on Coraline

One of Raquel’s favorite movies is Coraline.

Some time ago, we gave her a Coraline Jones doll, which she loves.

And then, one of Coraline Jones’ button eyes broke.

The incident happened when Raquel and Coraline Jones were in Sao Paulo last year.

When she came to Seattle and moved aboard Pesto, Raquel forgot Coraline Jones at her grandma’s house in Brazil.

When Adriana got to Sao Paulo again recently, she tried to take Coraline Jones to an old “doll hospital” that we knew there, only to find the business had shut down. So she brought the broken-eyed doll to San Diego, where we started working on fixing her.

The first step was to search for a suitable new pair of eyes – black buttons with four holes, and 1/2″ in diameter. Amazon did the trick.

Adriana had already bought a special glue suited for plastic and canvas, since the new eyes could not be sowed in place (unless we opened up the doll’s head – which would be too complex a job).

So, when the box with buttons arrived, she diligently started the process of giving Coraline Jones a new pair of button eyes.

… and Voila’. Coraline is ready.
It took more than a year, but Raquel finally got her fave doll back in shape.
