Alamitos Bay was our next stop after Catalina Harbor. It is a secluded, man-made harbor in Long Beach, CA. Despite the many attractions nearby, we ended up staying more inside the marina itself, as we were busy with a number of things. It is a beautiful place and we enjoyed our stay.
We stayed two weeks. Alamitos Bay was our base for a number of activities. Adriana did two business trips from there. I tackled some projects on Pesto. And it was there that we received our special guests. As usual, I will let the pictures do the rest of the job:
Departing Catalina Harbor, en route to Alamitos Bay – right at the start, we had dolphins join us …… a large pod swam ahead of Pesto’s bow for some 10 minutes to our delightAnother sailing boat crossing the channel towards mainland with usCargo ships waiting at the entrance of Los Angeles’ portAs we entered Alamitos Bay, we saw these funny floating bikesEvery new place brings a new backyard view … and this one was not bad at all !Our first sunset thereThe bay was decorated with floating christmas trees – we were lucky to get the last day would be lit, and took a dinghy ride at night to appreciate them from close by. Note the large bird on the right end of the float – it is a Heron. This thing is as tall as Paulo!Pesto resting at the tranquility of the marina …… which is a beautiful place at night …… and dayOne day we took a dinghy ride …… and in addition to the stunning properties on the waterfront …… we also found a gondola …… and a yellow submarine !Then another day Adriana and Roberta took the kids to have some fun on Disneyland, which was a short drive away …… the fun was not just for the kids, it appearsBut as the weather continued to throw beautiful sunsets one after the other …… and the pelicans to cross the sky on their constant search for food …… we also crossed the channel back to Santa Catalina island. We are just to done with that place yet, and wanted to share the beauty of it with Roberta and Luisa – stay tuned.
