I could go on and say it all happened too fast. I could say that years flew by. I could say that it still feels “like yesterday” when our eyes first met for the first time.
But if I did, it would be more rhetoric than truth.
The fact is, Paulo is turning thirteen today, and it has been a great ride.
Four thousand seven hundred and forty eight days ago, as I was on my way to the maternity, a wise man said I was about to learn what True Love was really about. And some hours later, when I first held Paulo on my arms, I realized how wise those wiseman’s words were.
Today, I can hardly hold him off the ground anymore, but I still feel the same rush of True Love every time he’s around.
Paulo is turning thirteen today. A beautiful, sweet, bright teenager. And I thoroughly enjoy the privilege of being his father, his daddy, and – I dare say – his friend.
Happy Birthday, Paulo !
